My boyfriend and I rented bikes to tour the place for $3 an hour. We saw wild ponies! This was a great weekend for sure.

Wonderful experience overall. Trails are well maintained, sneak peaks of local wildlife and famous ponies. Fantastic for birdwatching. Amazing experience with Ranger Alex and his one hour tour on the beach. Great spots for shell collectors. However the lighthouse was supposed to be open for visiting on Veterans Day and we had a group of about 15, 20 people waiting. After a phone call to the responsible party we found out that nobody was coming to open up the lighthouse. Apparently that program is run by volunteers and that day it was just TOO COLD INSIDE THE LIGHTHOUSE for anybody to come. We would have appreciated a notice of it because it was extremely cold outside too!

When you love the out doors, love to walk beaches, love to bike , love to kayak you cannot go wrong with Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. The variety of birds is a birders dream. If you come across the locals they know the horses by name. A great place to visit any time of the year.

Awesome beach and lots of seashells. Best island in the north east. Beautiful seashells, awesome birds including bald eagles

Unique, picturesque, and with a variety of activities for all. Boating, fishing, biking, hiking (mild terrain) beaching, wildlife viewing... Much to do there! Camping and hotels.nearby in Chincoteague.
